Discovering what love is one day at a time
Have you ever watched any of those shows on HGTV, where they totally remodel someone’s house? For example the person getting the remodel ends up getting this generous walk-in closet as part of the deal. The closet is huge, with drawers, shoe spots, hanging places, jewelry section, places for scarves and hats; well basically, it’s a room of its own.
To me that remodeled area, spiritually speaking, is like a heart that is circumcised, in the Spirit, unto God. The closet is like the heart of the New Man, the New Creation, where all the old has passed away, and the new heart is alive unto God. Each section of the closet is a place in God, in Christ. We have been given all things that pertain to godliness, and we are learning how to clothe ourselves in Him.
Therefore, as the elect of God…Chosen…Those that have inwardly circumcised their hearts, in the Spirit, whose praise is not from men, but from God… we know…
That we have been given all things that pertain to godliness, and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. It is very important to realize these truths and allow them to define us…it is not who we are, but who He is, that defines and refines us if we choose to submit to Him.
He by His death and resurrection chose us. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. We are chosen we are the elect of God. We are holy. He has washed us in His blood, and has made us white as snow. All of our sin is done away with. He calls us beloved; this is the love which the Father has for the Son. He sees us as He sees Christ. We have been given in Christ, the character of the new man. Every situation we encounter, every conflict, every day is an opportunity to walk in love, tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, and longsuffering….. How awesome is it that in Christ we begin with all the resources we need?! We are learning by the leading of the Holy Spirit how to steward those things…yet sometimes we forget the clothing we are already wearing, and choose to accessorize with things that do not compliment nor enhance what we are wearing, but they take away from the NEW character, and steal from others we come in contact with. That is why; the Bible is so very specific about what we are to clothe ourselves with. We have the new man, and this completely remodeled heart (closet) (that is filled with all things that pertain to godliness.)Why would we choose to put on any other thing? Why would we choose to fill our heart with things that have been buried with Christ in His death? Why would we take things from the old closet and put them in the brand new one? Really, those are the questions we have to ask Him. Why do I do this when….What is it that I believe instead of You Lord…? What is it Lord that when your Spirit stirs in me, I pick up the impure thing that floats to the surface, breathe life into it, and wear it, rather than putting it off? Help me with my unbelief… truly we need to understand that even though we are “believers”…when we are not walking in Truth in an area in our life we are walking in unbelief. We need the Helper to show us how to get out of unbelief, and walk in the Truth. It’s a process, and it comes from continued purposefulness to not be conformed to the standards of this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. It’s that process of washing our minds with the water of the Word of God, allowing it to be the thoughts that we think, the words that we speak and the actions we take.
I have been married to my wonderful husband for 22 years. We have two young men ages 18 and 13.. This blog is somewhat of a journal and attempt for me to keep a purposeful perspective on life as a whole.
