Discovering what love is one day at a time
I love to dance. I love to dance to music as I run about my house getting my chores done. It something I learned growing up. My mom is a blast, she would turn the radio up LOUD and we would sing at the top of our lungs and bust around the house singing, dancing and cleaning. I am not a dancing queen by any means, and my ability is only my willingness to dance. I would be thrown off of the stage of any reputable dance company.
The sound of music with a catchy beat, or a sweet and romantic feel, will often be playing and my husband will hold his hand out to dance. Our kids will either look at us with that “are you outta’ your mind” look, or they just laugh. I do not care at all. There is nothing better than dancing with my husband. We are not trained, nor do we have any idea what we are doing. But I trust my husband. When I am distracted and not resting in his arms, he can only lead as far as I am following. I love the picture that dancing paints of our relationship with the Father. For in Him we live and move and have our being. When dancing with a partner, both cannot lead. One has to lead and the other follows. If trust is an issue, movement is clumsy, painful and just doesn’t work well. The beauty of dancing through this life, with God is that He knows all the moves, He created the dance, and He is the best dance partner we will ever have. He has sent His Holy Spirit to be our Helper. It is by His still small voice that we know where to step next. But we have to trust Him, the sound of His voice, and be led by Him. We cannot be the one who calls all the shots. Sure, we can, but the dance will not be one fluid motion, it will be choppy, clumsy and painful.
A Song of Ascents. I will lift up my eyes to the hills--From whence comes my help?
My help [comes] from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD [is] your keeper; The LORD [is] your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.
The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.
Dance with Him like nobody is watching; you will have no regrets.
I have been married to my wonderful husband for 25 years. We have two young men ages 22 and 16.. This blog is somewhat of a journal and attempt for me to keep a purposeful perspective on life as a whole.
