Discovering what love is one day at a time
In the world around us we can see that changing a mindset takes some effort. Our mindsets can be healthy, or they can be unhealthy. There was a time in this country that women were not allowed to vote, this is not my point today, but an example to help you think about your own thinking.
Every day I have the opportunity to read God’s Word, and be transformed by the renewing of my mind. I can either believe and agree with God about what His Word says, and act on it, or read it and make an excuse, reasoning why it does not apply to me… Recently, I had the opportunity, to see my flesh throw a hissy fit. It is crazy how easily we can set up camp in a way of thinking, based on our circumstances. I want and desire to be ready to move wherever the Lord says move. And do not want to tell Him,”I don’t wanna’ do that”. Wherever He directs, I want to go. I do not want to argue with Him or make excuses why it won’t work right now….but how about later?
If I read the standard set before me and make an excuse of why it won’t work for me, I am stiff-necked, stubborn, and walking in unbelief. The truth is, He sets the STANDARD and always supplies the GRACE needed to get us there. He is my portion, and He is all I need. So… me throwing a hissy fit (utterly ridiculous) but the truth is, sometimes we have to see our flesh to be disgusted enough by it to change our mind. He allows the hissy fit, He exposes our sin. We then have the opportunity to confess what He shows us, and walk it out differently.
If we are imitators of God, we will have the opportunity to show His love for the world. But first, we have to allow Him to change our mindset.
I have been married to my wonderful husband for 22 years. We have two boys ages 18 and 13.. This blog is somewhat of a journal and attempt for me to keep a purposeful perspective on life as a whole.
