Discovering what love is one day at a time
Did you ever notice how your own mind can be just like a toddler? Sitting in one spot can be a huge challenge…..the tendency to get distracted by a piece of lint, a sunbeam, or a puppy is a huge problem. Yet if something really is important to that toddler mind, it can focus undistracted for a long, long time. That toddler mind will become pre-occupied with searching out that important item….Also once that toddler mind is set on the “important” thing, it will not easily be swayed to deviate from the course. If you have ever had a two year old…I know you can relate.
In His word He tells us to set our minds on things above. Like a toddler, we are to SET our mind on things above not things on the earth. Like a chicken who sits on her eggs in order to hatch them we are to sit, or camp out on the Word of God. We are to transplant our mind into the deep rich soil of His Word, allowing the roots of His love to deeply penetrate our hearts. As a parent of that toddler, we are to take our toddler minds like we would our children out of the dangers that they get themselves into as wee ones and deliberately set them in the place of safety and stability which is God’s Word. That security is His Word: He is unshakeable; we are safe in His arms and He will parent our souls.
